This page will be updated with all the latest news regarding POSTAL ALC

29th Oct 2009 - Movember almost over

Postal Manager, Colin Patterson and player Keith Walder have been participating in this year's campaign to promote Prostate Cancer awareness.  Thankfully the month long Moustache growing is nearly at an end.  If you haven't donated yet, shame on you (dont come running to me when you've got a sore prostate....ouch) please do so by clicking on the photographs below:

26th Oct 2009 - Scottish Cup 3rd Round Draw

Postal have secured that elusive 3rd round away day when they take on Milton AFC from the Caledonian league on or before the 7th of November.

Milton are well established in the Caledonian league and Postal will need to be at their best to secure a place in the next round.  Keep your eyes pealed for details of the bus times and pitch details.

Click on the following link to get a look at the Milton website.

14th Oct 2009 - Night Out

Second night out of the season this Saturday (17th).  Plan is to head straight up to the Parkway after the game win, lose or draw (hopefully with a win under our belt though).  Plan after that is for all players to put their hands in their pockets to keep the Manager fully lubricated then up the toon.

Hopefully Brucey will make it this time.  His wife promises she wont handcuff him to the bed this week.

27th Sep 2009 - New Photos online

Some New Photographs from the Burghmuir game have been added to the Photos section and the Player Profiles section.  Keep your eyes peeled for more Player Profile updates over the following weeks.

8th Aug 2009 - 2009/2010 2 more players sign on

The following new players have signed on the dotted line for season 2009/10

Darren Buchan - Brother of Jamie Buchan, Darren is a welcome addition to the squad.  Naturally left footed he'll be more competition to Neil McDonald and Mike Forrester.

Steven Mathers - Steve is another midfielder with a good engine and nice touches on the ball.

Postal welcome both players and hope they will contribute to a successful season.

28th July 2009 - 2009/2010 Ins and Outs so far

The following new (returning) players have signed on the bottom line for this season, watch this space for more before the season begins:

Chris Bews - Chris has returned to the club.  It's hoped he'll produce the goal scoring form consistently everyone knows he can.

Greig Patterson - Greig has finally came back from Norway.  Although he has been signed every season since he left, this will be his first where he is available every week.  Greig will take on the captaincy again this year.

Ian Bruce - After 5 seasons away, the prodigal son has returned.  Ian will bring experience to the squad and flexibility in terms of his ability to play defence and attack.

Wayne Keith - Another returning ex player, Wayne (Queetsy) Keith is a Postal legend.  He claims he's only returning as a back-up but we're all hoping he'll be pushing Dan for a starting place.

The following players have left the club.  Postal wish them every success with their new teams.

Colin South - Colin has signed for Premier Champs Cove Thistle.  Although not a regular last year due to other commitments, Colin never let the team down when he played and will do well for Cove in the Premier.

Andy Smith - Andy (Smee) Smith has decided to go back to Ferryhill in the 2nd div.  Work commitments limited Smee's appearances in the team towards the end of last season.  Postal wish him well.

21st July 2009 - New Postal Sponsor

Postal will be sponsored this year by the Parkway bar and restaurant.  Please feel free to click on the link below to find out more about this Bridge of Don based faimily restaurant.

Pre Season has started.  Postal will be training Monday and Wednesday nights at Westfield this year (6.45 pm start) and 1 pm at Westfield on a Saturday afternoon.

21st June 2009 - Next Years League.

Although it has not been officially announced, it looks as though Postal will be in Division One East for season 2009/2010.  This years league is most likely as shown below:

Burghmuir
West End
FC Geldie
RGU
Blackburn

Woodside
Johnshaven Athletic
Postal ALC
Glendale

This years Race Night and Player of the year night was held last night.  A great wee night was had by all and Postal ALC would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the night.  Here are the winners on the night:

Committee Player of the Year - Jamie Buchan

Players Player of the Year - Jamie Buchan

Club Man of the Year - Barry Patterson

25th May 2009 - Relegation to Div 2 back on the agenda.

The news posted on the 16th looks to have been premature.  There is a strong chance that the Dyce V Lads Club game will be played after all, following an appeal by LCA.  Given the fact that LCA and Turriff have won more games than us, if they take anything from a possible Dyce game it will be Postal who tumble down.  Watch this page for the appeal decision and any further twists and turns.

16th May 2009 - Postal win Relegation dog fight

Postal will definately be playing 1st Division football again next season.  The final placings at the bottom of the table seen Grammar Rovers, Alford and, fellow ALC team, Lads Club Amateurs relegated to Div 2.  Congratulations to all the players and staff for the hard work and attitude shown in the last few months.  Hopefully the same attitude can show an improvement in league placings next season.

13th May 2009 - Sportsmans do job at Woodside

Sportsmans did Postal a favour at Woodside tonight by beating Ladser 4 - 1.  Sportsmans dominated the first period but couldn't put the ball into the back of the net until the 40 minute mark.  Lads club did well to exploit a hole in the Sportsmans defence 10 mins into the second half and equalised.  With Ladser defending doggedly (and their goalkeeper taking 10 minutes per bye kick) they looked like they might hang on but around the 30 minute mark they gave away a pen to put Sportsmans back in the lead.  Credit where it's due Ladser pushed on and with Sportsmans looking nervous nearly got an equaliser when only a great save from an Allison shot from close in saved Postal.  Sportsmans scored 2 late goals to seal the points.  Assuming Lads Club lose the points from the game they scratched against Dyce, Postal will hopefully be playing Div 1 football again next season.  Watch this space for news.

2nd May 2009 - Player of the Year/Race Night

This Year's Postal ALC Player of the Year/Race Night will take place on Saturday the 6th of June at the Sportsmans Club 11 Queens Road.  All players are requested to pick up their tickets from Colin as soon as possible and start selling, selling, selling.

31st March 2009 - North of Scotland Quarter Final draw

The draw for the quarter-finals of the Saltire Fashions North of Scotland Amateur Cup was made on Monday 30th March.  Postal have been paired up against University.  Uni gave Postal a hiding last year so it'll be interesting to see if we can improve.  The full draw can be seen below.

Dyce v AC Mill Inn
Hazlehead United v Rothie Rovers
Kincorth v Echt
University v Postal ALC

Quarter-final ties to be played on Saturday 11th April.

21st March 2009 - North of Scotland Quarter Finalists

Postal will take their place in the Quarter Finals along with the following teams.  Not sure when the draw will be made, but once it's done, we'll get it posted (with any luck Echt will get Kincorth)

AC Mill Inn
Postal ALC
Hazlehead United
Kincorth
Rothie Rovers
Dyce
University
Echt

3rd March 2009 - North of Scotland 4th round draw

AC Mill Inn v Bervie Caley
Bucksburn United v Postal ALC
Hazlehead United v Halliburton
Kincorth v Monymusk
Old Aberdonians v Rothie Rovers
Tarves v Dyce
University v Stonehaven Athletic
Westdyke v Nicolls Amateurs or Echt

28th Feb 2009 - Ins and Outs.

Postal made two signings this week.  Neil Summers finally put pen to paper and made his first start against Turriff.  James Greave was also signed and made his Posties debut coming on against Turriff.  Both guys, we hope, will give us a boost going into the second half of the season.

Postal defender Darren Milne will be leaving the club.  Postal thank Darren for his contribution this season and wish him well for the rest of the season.

20th Nov 2008 - North of Scotland Draw

Postal will take on Cove Thistle in the North of Scotland Cup.  Cove are going well in the Premier league so will be tough opponents.

6th Nov 2008 - And another one

You know you've got an aging squad when 9 of you're signed players are parents.  Mikey Forrester is the latest to add to the Postal Kindergarden.  Congratulations to Mike and Claire.

29th Nov 2008 - Latest Addition

Postal keeper Andy Smith became a father for the first time last week.  Seemingly Rebecca has considerably more hair than her father already.  Congratulations to Smee and Michelle from all at Postal.

30th Oct 2008 - Association Meeting

Association meeting tonight.  Not a lot of gossip to be honest.  Main news was that there will be a free date on the 3rd of January but we will have a game on the 27th of December.

28th Oct 2008 - Website back up again

Apologies for lack of comms the last two weeks.  The website was having some technical difficulties but thankfully we're back up and running again.  Luckily this coincided with our two weeks without games so we've not missed much.  There is an association meeting this week, any news resulting from the meeting will be posted Friday.

14th Oct 2008 - New Aberdeenshire AFA Website

The Aberdeenshire AFA have created their own website.  It's pretty decent actually and worth a look certainly.  The website can be found on the links page and at:

 http://www.aberdeenshireafa.com/

10th Oct 2008 - Points deduction

Lads Club Amateurs have indeed been docked 4 points.  Woodside have also been docked 3 points.  the points wont be added to any other team's total.

06th Oct 2008 - LCA Docked points?

Fellow Div 1 North side Lads Club Amateurs have seemingly been docked 4 points by the association.  Details are not clear yet if the points will be distributed to the teams they played.  Until then, the league, shown on the fixtures and league page wont show the deduction.

18th Sep 2008 - Managerial Merry-Go-Round

Gary Mann has unfortunately left the club.  Ex Manager C.Patterson, in a Kevin Keegan style turn around, will take up the reigns again with Willy Hay taking the Assistant Manager role.

Postal wish Gary well and thank him for the work done in the last year.

8th Sep 2008 - Player of the Year 07/08

Last season's players player and committee player of the year tophies both went to Jamie Buchan this year.  Well done Jamie.

2nd Sep 2008 - This year's Training and Nightout

Training this year will be at Lads Club Woodside 7 o'clock till 9 on a Wednesday night.

Nightout this Saturday (6th).  Starting at the Highland hotel for a meal and handing out last season's awards.  A raffle will be held.  Winning ticket will get to take Wodge home early.

31st Aug 2008 - Back up and Running

Apologies for the lack of information over the last week.  Due to circumstances outwith our control the website couldn't be updated.  Hopefully things are back to normal.  All the stats and league results etc have been updated.  We will try and get the match reports online in the next few days.

Meanwhile the following guys have put pen to paper over the last few weeks

D.McKerron (forward/midfield), D.Macmillan (Defender), Sean McBain (Defender), B.Smith (Defender), S.Combe (Defender)

03rd Aug 2008 - More Ins and Outs for 08/09

Postal have made the following new signings since last week:

D.Sutherland (Defender)
R.Low (Midfielder)
R.Milne (goalkeeper)

Colin South, Greig Patterson, Andy Smith have all also signed on again for another year.

Left back for the past 6 years, Martin Thomson has decided to take his talents to Dyce Amateurs this year.  Dyce are in Postal's league this year so it wont be long before we meet again.

27th July - Management re-shuffle

Postal have made a slight change to the management structure for season 08/09.  Colin Patterson (manager for the previous 4 seasons) will be dropping down to player/trainer with Gary Mann (last years assistant) moving into the hot seat.

Postal Legend Willy Hay has also accepted a request to join the committee/coaching staff in an effort to provide a better league challenge this season.

John Fowlie and Kenny Munroe will make up the remaining places on the committee/coaching staff as per previous seasons.

27th July 2008 - New Signings for 08/09

Postal have made the following new signings for 08/09.  The committee hope to make some more this week before the season starts to boost the squad for what is hoped is a sustained promotion hunt.  Chris Bews has also signed on the dotted line for another season following his absence at the end of last season.

D.Campbell (forward)
D.Milne (Defender)
K.Walder (Defender)

8th July 2008 - Division One North

Postal have been placed in Div 1 North this year.  The league looks very competitive again this year with AC Mill Inn, Woodside, RGU and MS Utd catching the eye immediately.

1 AC Mill Inn
2 Alford
3 Bervie Caley
4 Bridge of Don
5 Dyce
6 Grammar Rovers
7 Lads Club
8 MS Utd
9 Postal ALC
10 RGU

13 Turriff Thistle

18th June 2008 - Pre Season Dates

Pre-season for season 2008/2009 will start Monday the 7th of July - 6.45pm at Westfield.

5th June 2008 - Promotions and Relegations decided

Champions Banchory and 2nd place Bon Accord will be promoted from division 1 East this season with University Strollers, Rattrays and Glendale going down.

Postal finished in a dissapointing mid table position but given the losses to the squad at the beginning of the season and as the season progressed possibly not unexpected.

Hopefully the management will add new faces to the squad for next season as Postal look to put in a more consistant challenge.

17th April 2008 - AFC opponents - Glendale

Postal's last chance at silver ware this season sees them take on Glendale at home.  The date for the fixture is still to be arranged.  If Postal make it through to the quarters they will play either Bridge of Don or Bon Accord.

9th March 2008 - White Cup Semi final opponents - Theologians

Theologians scored late in the game on Saturday against Glendale to clinch their place against Postal in the Semi's of the White Cup.

Postal have a decent record against Theos this year with a win and a draw but recent league form must make Theos optimistic.

3rd March 2008 - Thomson scoops sweeper

Postal full back Martin Thomson will surely be splashing the pints for all his team mates this weekend after scooping £4500 on the Ladser Sweeper.

Thomson had actually ticked the "No Publicity" box on his sweeper but not many people read this news section anyway.

When asked about his win, Thomson was quoted as saying "It's just not sunk in yet, I'm the happiest person in Invergordon".

Seriously Marti, it's 4 grand, not 4 million buddy, I think you'll still need to go back to work.

30th Jan 2008 - Latest Signing news

Postal have again added to their squad with the signing of Dougy McKerron.  The ex Sunnybank Juniors and Walker Road Amateurs player made an immediate impact as a trialist last weekend when he scored on his debut at Johnshaven.  The 28 year old will add experience and quality to the squad for the second half of the season.

10th Jan 2008 - AAFA Meeting news

All amateur teams will be required to provide a representative to a sports injurty course on the 1st and 2nd of March.

19th Dec 2007 - Postal look to the South.

The Postal management are delighted to announce the signing of Colin South from Premier high flighers Cove Thistle.  Southy is comfortable in defence or midfield and signs on at a great time in the season when the Posties are looking to boost their squad for the second half of the campaign.  Look out for more new signings over the festive period.

2nd Dec 2007 - Newcaslte Photos loaded.

Some pictures of the Newcastle trip now loaded.  See link in Photographs section of the site.

2nd Dec 2007 - Christmas Night/Day out.

Captain Wood has anounced that the anual Postal Christmas Night out will take place on Sunday the 23rd of December.  Hopefully most of the boys will have the day off on the Monday (Xmas Eve) and will be able to attend.

1st Dec 2007 - Scottish Cup Fine

Postal have been hit with a rediculous £250 fine for failing to fulfill their scheduled game away to Renfrew in the Scottish Cup.  Postal had a number of players away for the Newcastle trip and did everything in their power to change the date of the fixture, so to get fined this amount of money seems harsh in the extreme.

15th Sep 2007 - New Training Facility

Postal have secured the "Let" at the new Astro Turf pitch at Tullos field for the coming season.  Training will be from 8 till 9.30 every Tuesday night.

11th July 2007 - Comings and Goings.

Mikey Forrestor has signed on again for the coming season.  Mikey left last year to pursue burds.......sorry an education at Uni in Glasgow but has since rejoined the land of the 9 to 5vers and will hopefully quickly recapture his form of last season for the Posties.

4th Aug 2007 - Wood Scoops main prizes at awards dinner.

A new page has been loaded up showing the current sponsors of the club for season 2007/2008 with links to their websites.

8th June 2007 - Sweeper Stats

Kenny has kindly collated the Sweeper Stats for the season.  These are now in the Stats section for 2006/2007.  Davy Gall was the outstanding seller of the year with £998 sold.  Mackie gets the "Hang-your-head-in-shame" award with only £137 sweepers sold.  This from a man with 10 houses collecting £500/month in rent from Polish people throughout the city.

15th May 2007 - Website back up and running

Apologies for lack of info recently on the website.  We are now back up and running.  Look out for any news and training schedules over the close season.

2nd April 2007 - Ex Posties Captain Ties the Knot

Ex Posties captain Greig Patterson tied the knot last weekend at a ceremony in Brisbane Australia.  The best man speech was, according to the congregation, the best and funniest they'd ever heard.  As can be seen below, Greig forfeighted the kilt for some traditional Ozzie attire.

All at the club send Greig and Jacinta our best wishes.

5th Feb 2007 - Cameron Off?

It looks very much like Postal striker Roddy Cameron has left the club.  As the transfer deadline in the juniors closed on Wednesday it looked as though the veteran striker was going to sign for Premier side Formartine.

Cameron is reported to have said he couldn't take the emotional heartache of seeing the Highland Hotel waitresses every Saturday after a very public falling out.

The club wish him and his broken heart all the best.

24th Jan 2007 - New Photograph in "Wee bit of History"

A new photo has been posted in the history section showing a young John from 1983.

19th December 2006 - Pitch Change

This weekend's home game against Nicolls Amateurs may need to be played at Hazelhead due to Westfield being unavailable.

2nd November 2006 - Scally combines day job as part time model.

Graham Scally has obviously not been wasting his Saturdays off.  It looks like he has taken to the role of male model after this advert was seen doing the rounds in the local rag last week.

12th October 2006 - Forrestor packs bags to become oldest student in town.

Left midfielder Mike Forrestor has decided to up and leave Aberdeen to go to College in Glasgow.  With a blatant disregard to his team mates, Forrestor has decided to put nights out with long haired goths and nubile young Glasgow sorts ahead of Postal's push for 1st Division respectability.

Everyone at Postal wishes him all the best and a wip round will be gathered to make sure his student loan doesn't run out too quickly.

4th October 2006 - Latest Cup Draws.

The draws for the Association and AFC Cups have been made.

In the AFC Postal are at home to Grampian Police.

In the Association cup,  Postal have a harder game of it against Premier Division Stoneywood Social club.  No dates have been advertised as yet.

23rd September 2006 - Manager breaks bone.

While attempting to keep fit in a non-contact sport, Colin (brittle bones) Patterson has fractured the 5th Metatarsel in his left foot.  He will be in a cast for 3 weeks and out for at least 5.  Moral of story, never play squash with Andy Allan, boys an animal.

22nd September 2006 - Training Disaster

Just found out that we did not get our Let renewed by Aberdeen City council for the Training facility at Rubislaw.  Will work to get something more permanent sorted out this week.  Training on Wednesday the 27th will be indoor at Alex Collie Sports Centre in Bridge of Don at 7.00.

Please keep an eye on this news page for Training until something permanent is found.  Thanks.

Postal also recieved a bye to the 2nd round of the North of Scotland although the draw for this game has not been made.

27th August 2006 - Cameron Breaks Duck

Just when the Postal support thought it was never going to happen, Roddy Cameron scored his first Postal goal on Saturday.  It just shows what can happen if you keep believing.

Neil (Bunny) MacDonald was seen to ask Cameron after the game how he did it.

15th August 2006 - Awards results

The awards for 2005/2006 were handed out at the anual race night.  The awards were presented as follows:

Top Goal Scorer - Chris Bews

Cameron will be available for selection for Monday nights game at Feughside.

1st August 2006 - Latest Signing

Mike Forrestor is the newest recruit to the Postal cause.  Mike looks to be a valuable asset to the team after moving to Aberdeen in the summer.

Mike becomes our only ginger player this year following the departure of Queetsy and the rapid greying of Davy Wood.

30th June 2006 - Fits Yer Beef Disaster

Don't know what I've done but I've managed to somehow delete the forum from the Host Server.  Will attempt to get it back up and running ASAP.

Update - My intellect was sadly not up to the task and have had to create a new forum.  You will need to set up your details again.  Sorry for distruption.
